Information for Parents
Welcome to LifeAfterHighSchool!
LifeAfterHighSchool is a program that has been designed to help all Grade 12 students at participating schools apply for, afford, and get into a college or university program of interest, whether or not they currently are planning to go. The program helps students keep options open, explore possibilities, and learn about the process that could help them in the future.
Lifeafterhighschool is not taking students through this process because it expects everyone to go to post-secondary education. It is doing so because the application process is not always easy for students to figure out on their own. The program helps equip all students with the information they need to make an informed decision for next year and to build their confidence working through the process should they wish to make future applications.
Throughout the year, the
LifeAfterHighSchool program has worked to help students apply to at least one post secondary program. Now with the year coming to an end, the last step is to help students apply for financial aid. Even if they don't know whether or not they want to go or think they are ineligible, applying means they learn what options are available, and going through the process also helps should they decide to re-apply next year or down the road.
Applying for financial aid requires your help! There is at least one form to complete for students and one for parents/guardians. The process can get confusing. To help, we have designed the following video, which will help you to complete the parent form of the StudentAidBC application.
If you do not have a copy of the parent form, you can download it
here. Once it is completed it needs to be added to the completed student form and sent to StudentAidBC.
Lifeafterhighschool has provided your son/daughter with a stamped-address envelope.
